Post Mortem Competition
Shadows & Spikes » Devlog
I’m here to show you the Rubric and notes given back from the judge
From All of this I put each Item in 3 Categories: Need Improvement (-3 or more), Okay but could be better (-2 or above), and Perfect (0)
My Thoughts/Overview of the rubric category by category.
Perfect
- Graphics & Game assets are consistently Applied
- Title screen Functions & provides clear instructions
Okay but could be better
- Game rules are well-defined and clearly explained. -2
- We missed the ‘At least one advanced rule feature available’
- Also I feel the rules of the game could have been presented more clear, because currently the game doesn’t tell you the rules
- Game is challenging, but can be completed/. -2
- We missed the Defined rules and not having multiple outcomes available for competition
- Innovation and creativity of the game. -1
- The game was either not innovative or creative
- I think the game wasn’t innovative, because it mostly just rehash others’ Ideas without having A ton of our own
- Describe Program. -1
- We didn’t show the programs advanced features
- Graphics & game assets are appropriate for concept and/or topic. -1
- we missed the graphics didn’t enhance the user experience
- Graphic Assets quality and consistency. -1
- we missed the graphics didn’t enhance the user experience
- Game controls & mechanics are intuitive. -1
- the controls weren’t intuitive and/or didn’t enhance the user experience
- After all of this I’m not sure what ‘enhance the user experience’ means for the controls
- PRESENTATION: Demonstrates the ability to effectively answer questions. -2
- We didn’t interact with the judge while answering her questions
- if anything One main thing was both My partner and I was nervous
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
- Game addresses all parts of the concept/topic and guidelines. -5
- the theme wasn’t implemented the best for the game
- the theme should to the main part not just a gameplay mechanic
- Users can easily navigate between pages, and the overall user engagement and enjoyment are considered. -3
- we missed that the game should include a multi-player function (user enjoyment)
- PRESENTATION: Statements are well-organized and clearly stated. -3
- The presentation did follow a logical order, but our statement in them weren’t organized well
SPECIAL ONLY ONE / MAIN THING TO TAKE
- PRESENTATION: Demonstrates self-confidence, poise, assertiveness, and good voice projects. -7
- We didn’t have any of this almost zero
- We didn’t have poise, voice projection, and assertiveness
Notes from the Judge
- It seems like my hands were wring the whole time and My partner had his hands on his hips the whole time.
- The main thing was TO HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE, I’m telling myself that more
P.S.
This game is probably going to died. All my motivate has left, but If it comes back I might work on it more.

Hey, I know that getting these results was probably discouraging, but I think it would still be a good idea to try to finish what you set out to accomplish. Finishing projects is what makes us better game developers, If we abandon our projects, we won't get nearly as much experience as if we saw things through to the end.
If anything All my motivation is going towards the Dream Diary Jam 9. I just can’t wait :p
Plus Honestly I did a lot better than last year and now know what I could do better for the next. :)
That's completely fair, game jams are a great use of time since you really can not waste time. Good luck =]
